We are at a school with laptops provided to the students. We want to
provide them with Office Outlook Calendar functionality but don't want to
let them actually use the mail client to get mail.

Is there an elegant way of doing this? So far I've thought of deleting the
SMTP portion and blowing the installation cache away. Next could create a
plain pst with only the Calendar folder available. This the only way that
makes sense? Rather not delete the office install cache if I don't have to.

All interesting ideas appreciated.

Thanks!

create a profile that doesn't have an email address - cancel the dialog when
it starts to set up the email account. It'll ask if you want to create a no
mail account. Say ok.

Outlook will always create all the default folders when run for the first
time. However, Diane's advice still applies.

Is there a good way of blowing away the mail menu and removing the mail
folders from the pst? Also, how do you turn that whole pane on the left
hand side off?

I don't know.

No.

I don't know of any way to completely remove it, but if you're using OL
2003, you can drag its right border to the left and make it very small.
