Removed MS Antispyware program, then downloaded and installed Windows
Defender 2. Now Outllook crashes the computer whenever I try to send an
email or when I try to view the send box. The email does send but stays in
the outgoing box. It appears that something in the transfer from the
outgoing to the send box now crashes everything and I have to do a hard
reboot.

Have tried booting in safe mode. Have removed Defender 2. Have run error
check on the disk. Have tried turning off firewall and antivirus and other
antispyware (all from Computer Associates eTrust).

Finally got Outlook to work by removing Windows One Care Live. Is it safe
to install One Care and Defender or only one of the two?

Any Beta installation should at best be considered marginally safe, and
your dealing with two Beta products. In your case, there are numerous
problems in scanning/cleaning Outlook Express DBX files, which neither of
your Beta's exclude by default. The result can be broken databases, which
HAS been reported to Ms (by me), but so far the response is "postponed for
future consideration." A DBX exclusion can be accomplished in Defender by
folder exclusion, unfortunately One Care Live makes life difficult by
requiring that each and every DBX file be excluded.

To get an overview of this situation, I'll refer you to the WOC support
newsgroups, particularly the comments made by MVP David Guess in regard to
the Outlook Express DBX database files. Ms just doesn't get it, and you're
not the first to encounter a broken database, sorry.
