Outlook complains: Unable to start processing services.
The .DLL file for the information service could not be
found. MAPI was unable to load the information service
PSTPRX.DLL.

I did an upgrade from Office 2000 to OfficeXP. I also
installed both O-XP service packs and whatever Office
update recommended before starting the new Outlook.
Three other computers in this office were upgraded in the
same manner, by me, and all of the others worked
perfectly afterwards.

Any ideas how to fix this will be greatly appreciated!

"OL2002: Error Message: MAPI Was Unable to Load the Information Service
Pstprx.dll"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q293058&

CAUSE:
This problem can occur because Outlook 2002 upgraded the
profile once and set a registry key that specifies not to upgrade
the profile again. When you revert to Outlook 2000 IMO,
choose to use the current profile, and upgrade to Outlook 2002
again, that profile is skipped during the upgrade process.

I have seen this when a pre-exising profile was on the
machine when you performed the upgrade. I believe that
the XP registry wants you to use the PST that is created in a
"hidden" location. However your existing profile was using
a PST that is located somewhere else. (confusing?)

WORKAROUND:
To work around this behavior, manually create a profile
for Outlook 2002. To do this:
Close Outlook 2002.
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Mail.
Click Show Profiles, click Add, name the profile, and then
click OK.
Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Click a type of account, and then click Next.
In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, enter the necessary
information, and then click Next.
Click Finish.
If the Always use this profile option is selected, select the
profile that you just created, and then click OK.

Search your hard drive for Personal Folders. These are files
that end in the .pst extension. Be sure to search for HIDDEN
files.

Slipstick site can give you more detailed information:

Hi, thanks that got me going again!

Just one detail, the new mail settings downloaded all my new emails since
Thursday but all the prior emails and contact, etc, that were in the old
Outlook are missing. Any idea where that might be and how to get it
integrated with the new Outlook?
