Hello all, I have a few questions for you. Here is whats
going on.

My company is in the process of changing building and
changing domains. With the change in domains, we will be
re-imaging all the PC in the faculity. The key concern
here is backup of the users PST files. We run Exchange
server so all of the inbox items are on the server so that
is not an issue. The problem is the personal PST located
on the local box. By default, all PST files
are "Encrypted".

My question is this, what is that encryption based on? Is
it based on the SID given by the domain? If so, since we
are changing domains, I need to backup all the local PST
files Unencrypted so that the users will be able to access
their files.

Another question is this: If the files are in fact
encrypted baised on the SID, I have to go around to 75
user's PC and personally export each and every PST by hand
in a short amount of time. Is there a way to write a VB
macro to export each local PST file to an unencrypted file?

I know this is a lot of information and I appricate any
help I can get on this matter.

Andrew

No, you can open the pst-file on another computer as well even when the SID
of a user has changed as it doesn't have any relation to the SID. Of course
you can convince yourself by simply copying a pst-file to a CD and copy it
to your HD at home (don't forget to remove the "Read Only" file property)
