I am trying to backup outlook using the Outlook backup toll. (Outlook 2003/Wndows XP) The backup works fine, and the backup opens perfectly in Outlook. however, when I attempt to copy the backup file either to a CD RW disk or to USB2.0 flash memory, I get a message that the file is read-only, cannot be rea, and may be corrupted. I attempted to fix the save file with scanpst, but that gives me an error message as well. Why can't these saved files be opened

Thanks.

When a .pst file is put on a CD the Read Only option gets enabled and
Outlook cannot open a .pst file that is Read Only. You would need to copy
the .pst file off of the CD and Right click on it and uncheck the Read Only
box and then Outlook should be able to open it.

I hope this information is helpful.
