My out look has stopped receiving email automatically. I
need to select "Send/Receive" to receive new email. I
think I have all the settings correct for checking for new
mail every 1 minute, and receive immediately on outlook
start up, but neither of these work.

I must have some setting wrong but I can't find it.

I would be guessing the firewall on XP is now actively
protecting the computer from external probes so the
exchange server doesn't see your compute.

And you would be guessing wrong.

Ok, but do you have an alternative? Have noticed this
type of problem on over 40 computers after activating the
firewall and would love to find a fix.

Thanks

well I've got the firewall enabled and that doesn't stop me getting email,
although I'm using dial-up, but the principal should be the same......

Hi -
All the users can get their e-mail. It's just that
before the firewall activation they would be immediately
notified of arrived mail - as it is now they are only
notified once about every 10 min (default for the
exchange server here) or if they check manually it will
give the mail right then.

Thanks

Any system that uses Exchange server has two factors - the Exchange sever
settings and the local Client settings. It depends on how often the local
client is set up to poll the Exchange server for new mail.
(I think.....)

Thanks:

I'll see what I can get to on the server side. The
settings on the client side haven't seemed to make a
difference (ie 1 min to 10 min settings to check mail
gives the same result - it waits till the mail is sent
from the server)

Thanks again
