I have been experiencing difficulty in connecting vpn
users to the exchange server in my organization. I can
access all other net. resources, i.e. network drives,
logon scripts, etc. but keep getting the message to work
offline or retry when I open outlook. I can ping the
exchange server, even entered exchange server in host
file. I am running win2k on desktops, ms office 2k,xp and
2003, win2k server and exchange 2k. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,

Mike

Outlook (except the newest one) is Netbios dependent. So it requires a WINS
Server to cross subnets. If this Client machine individually "dials" the VPN
Connection, then include the WINS & DNS that belong to the network it is
calling. Put these in the Dial-up Connection's settings. You can still leave
the IP# and Mask running on "automatic" but there is nothing wrong with
statically adding these to the "dialup settings".

If this is a "site-to-site vpn" then you will have to do it at the LAN level
and make sure that you have full WINS interoperability between the two
sites,...but I didn't get the impression that this was your case.
