Hello,

I am a single user who has two computers on a home network. I am seeking
information on how to share Outlook or at the very least
contacts,calendar,task...etc between the two pc's. Is this possible?

My goal is to have the ability to possible check e-mail from either
computer. Currently I am using a web base e-mail setup to retrieve my mail
off the Cox mail serving when using the laptop. This is not to much of a
problem. More important, I would like to browse contacts and other outlook
features on the laptop instead of using the desktop to access this
information.

It would be also cool if I was able to sync my Pocket PC on both computers.
Currently I am doing this on the Desktop. I know this will only be a
possibility once I can synchronize outlook on my desktop to my lap top.
Maybe I am asking or wishing for to much.

Any suggesting would be gladly appreciated.

Here are the specs:

Computer 1
-Desktop running XP home and Office XP

Computer 2
-Laptop running XP home and Office XP

PDA
-Dell Axim X5 running Pocket PC 2003

Computers are networked together via Ethernet connection.

TIA,

I'm not sure that it coule be done unless you have an exchange server
running. If you have an Exchange server running, all the messages are kept
at the server level and Outlook acts as a client. Then you should be able
to sync at any pc, as the messages are kept at only one place. Otherwise,
you would have to sync the two comptuers and then sync the pda. Which, may
or may not work, but is guaranteed to be a pain. I'm sure there is probably
something else you can do, but that's all I have for answers on this one.

I have this shared setup on Windows XP using Outlook 2002 where the
computers are networked . I put the first computer's "mail.pst" (or
whatever your .pst file is called) in a new folder. Then I right click the
new folder and on the Sharing Tab, check the boxes that share that folder,
and allow other to change its contents and give it a share name. You could s

Now on the other computer, instead of using its .pst file, I change it in
the Account setup to use the .pst file on the first computer in the shared
folder. This gives you the Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, etc. As long as you're
usng the same or compatible versions of Outlook this works accross Win98,
Win2000, XP and Win Server 2003.

I also use this shared folder to share my IE Favorites but that involves
some registry changes. I believe the Microsoft knowledge base offer some
specific guidance on this.
