I have recently added a certificate so I can digital sign my messages. Each
time I apply the signature, I get a popup regarding "accessing a protected
stored item". Is there anyway to disable this message?

Thanks,
/jb

The message is generated because, when you imported the digital ID using the Certificate Import Wizard, you checked the box annoted "Strong private key protection. You will be prompted every time the private key is used by an application if you enable this option".

As it says, because you are ACCESSING your private key you are being warned and asked permission to proceed. To remove the warning you must re-import the SAME certificate WITHOUT checking this box. This will over-write the properties and now, when you send the signed message, no such warning appears. The message is still signed of course

It took me months to work out why I got the warning on one machine and not on another identical W2K machine. It was all due to the importing process!
