All of my OUTLOOK EXPRESS email addresses are now in my CONTACTS. I have no
OUTLOOK Email Address list. How do I fix this. Something went nuts when I
imported information from Outlook Express to OUTLOOK MIS OFFICE 2003 PRO.

Thanks....NORM

This is a common occurrence when moving things around -- the association
between the Contacts folder and the Outlook Address Book gets broken. To fix
it, go to Tools | E-mail accounts, select "View or change existing
directories or address books", and click Next. If you don't see the OAB in
the Directories and Address Books list, click the Back button, then select
"Add a new directory or address book", then "Additional Address Books", and
add the OAB. Then keep clicking Back until you get back to the first dialog
box, and go back to the Directories and Address Books list as you did earlier.

Once the OAB appears in the list, select it and then click Change to make
sure the Contacts folder(s) you want to display are listed. If any of them
aren't listed, you'll need to enable those Contacts folders as Outlook
Address Books by right clicking the folder, selecting Properties, clicking
the Outlook Address Book tab, and checking the "Show this folder as an E-mail
address book" box. Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.

Hi Jocelyn:

That is all done but didn't solve the problem. Right now, the entire list
is a result of "SHOW NAMES FROM the CONTACTS." If I change it to "SHOW NAMES
FROM THE OUTLOOK ADDRESS BOOK," there is nothing there.

There are a lot of people I have on an e-mail list but don't want in my
Contacts, and that is what I'm trying to restore.

I'm lost.

Thanks.....

AND ONE MORE THING: It won't let me add anything in my OUTLOOK ADDRESS BOOK.

Thanks....

That's what you SHOULD see, since it is your Contacts folder that contains
the addresses.

What do you mean by "have on an e-mail list"? What is this "list" and where
do you have it?

That's correct. You add items through the Contacts folder, since the
Outlook Address Book is nothing more than a view of your Contacts folder.

Hi Brian:

Let me "regress" for a moment. In MSOFFICE 97, I had an email address book
in OUTLOOK EXPRESS and a CONTACT LIST in OUTLOOK.

Now ALL Of my email addresses are in CONTACT and CONTACTS with faxes or
Email addresses are in my Address book - co-mingled.

When I tried to set up a separate OUTLOOK address list, it wouldn't let me
add anything.

When I print out my CONTACT list, I'll get a bunch of people with nothing
but e-mail addresses, which is something I don't want.

Am I stuck with this or what? Thanks....

Since fax numbers are valid electronic addresses, Outlook shows them in the
Address Book view.

You don't add anything using the Address Book interface. You add them in
the Contacts folder.
When I print out my CONTACT list, I'll get a bunch of people with
nothing but e-mail addresses, which is something I don't want.

Print out from what window? Please state exactly what you see on the screen
and what you click because I can't see it from here.

If I go to my CONTACTS - every single e-mail address also has an entry. My
Contacts are flooded with listings which have nothing but a name and EMAIL
address. I'd like to have my Contacts contain people who I have addresses,
phone#'s etc, and not JUST their e-mail address.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. NORM

You can create a custom view of your Contacts folder that filters for items
which have an actual mailing address, and then print from that view.

THANK YOU...I'll give that a shot.

Just to refresh: The ADDRESS book in EMAIL is pulled from CONTACTS and if I
delete something in THAT list or the CONTACT List, since they are connected,
it will be deleted from both lists.

I'll try the filter.

Thanks....NORM
