Hi,

I have just rebuilt my system after trialling 2003 - (but
can't afford it) so have gone back to XP

Now I found that after resetting my Outlook file to the
one I want I cannot set my contacts/address book.

Right Click Contacts,
Properties
Outlook Address Book

the check box is greyed out and I cannot set it to be
used.

This is obviously annoying as I cannot now use autofil
for email addresses.

Can anyone help, please and
TIA
Sean

It sounds like there could be a problem with the Outlook Address Book. Use
the following steps to remove and reinstall the Outlook Address Book or add
one if one is not installed already.
1. Open Outlook.
2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
3. Under Directory, click "View or change existing directories or address
books", and then click Next.
4. If the Outlook Address Book is listed then click Remove to remove it. If
it does not exist skip this step.
5. Click Add.
6. Select Additional Address Books and Click Next.
7. Hightlight the Outlook Address Book and click Next.
8. Click OK when you receive the following prompt:
The E-mail Account you have just added will not start until you choose
Exit from the File menu, and then restart Microsoft Outlook.
9. On the File menu in Outlook, click Exit.
10.. Restart Outlook.
11. Right-click the Contacts icon in the Outlook Bar, and then click
Properties on the shortcut menu.
12. Click the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select the "Show this
folder as an e-mail Address Book" check box, and then click OK.

I hope this information is helpful.

Robert,

thanks but now I cannot add the Address Book as per step:7

I get a message that says:

The Account you have added is not fully configured. It
might not work until re-configured correctly. Click on
OK and nothing is added. Tried shutting down etc but
always the same.

All my email accounts are however correctly configured.

Any ideas,

MTIA,
KR
