Canadian,
If you XP SP2 installed, you can try a registry change. The SP2 update added
some security, that will affect html functions in older versions MS Office
programs, including Outlook. You will need to rename registry keys, to let
Outlook98 (MS Office) install.
START button> RUN: regedit> Change the names for the following keys from/to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File
Execution Options\htmlmarq.ocx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File
Execution Options\htmlmm.ocx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File
Execution Options\oldhtmlmarq.ocx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File
Execution Options\oldhtmlmm.ocx
In the future if you need reinstall Windows, and your recovery/restore CD's
contains XP SP1, you should first install MS Office97/2000, before updating
to SP2. This registry change has been necessary when I have previously tried
to install Works 4.0 thru Works 6.0, and Works Suite2002 (plus earlier
version I expect), and XP SP2 installed on the PC. I don't know if this true
for Vista, since I have never tried to install this software on a Vista PC.

I had to re format my hard drive (Boot Sector Virus) and re load XP. Now I
can't load Outlook 98 from my Office 97 disk. I get "Setup was unable to
download all the required componenets for this installation...." I can find
references to this error message but no solution.
What do I have to download to get Outlook 98 working again?
Or do I have to abandon 98 and buy a newer version of Outlook?
