The codes are quite different for xp and office 97. You
will find that even if it was running ok to begin with
then it will get corrpted and fail over time. I would
suggest an upgrade.

Have you gone to Office update and searched for Office 97
(Outlook 97) updates.

The nicest thing about Office XP is that the update page can
scan for and find updates, the older program requires that
you search manually.

But Office 97 should run just as well on Windows XP as it
would under any other version of Windows.

Hello:
I am not sure if this will work with Outlook 97. I was having a
similar problem with Outlook 98 when I tried to use it with XP
Professional on my new laptop.

I discovered that Outlook 98 will operate ok if I was using an
Administrator account but I would get an error message that the
"Outlook.exc" file would not load when I was using a "Limited" user
account.

Outlook 98 seems to work ok with XP Professional if I log in using a
"Power Users" account. You can set up a "Power Users" account by
entering Start, Run and then "Control Userpasswords2" in the Run
window. Then, in XP Home, click on the Account, properties, group
membership tab, standard user (power users group)

I have "not" used the "Power Users Group" with XP Home and Outlook 98.
I have only used this with XP Professional and Outlook 98. Hope this
is of some help.
