Outlook 97 - Can't upgrade to SR-1

Had a problem with MS-Access after upgrading my WinXP to
WinXP SP1 - Un-installed Office, Removed Office 97 Pro as
per KB254250, removed SR-1 as per KB173431. Downloaded
new SR-1 and SR-2's. Re-Installed Office 97 Pro, ran SR-
1, noticed Outlook not in window to update. Ran SR-2 -
would not upgrade to SR-2 - why because Outlook not at SR-
1 level. I have followed instructions on KB173990 and
KB192816. Not sure what to do next! Can anybody help?
Frustated ....
 
Wow, you have put in some time and research!

Are you getting any errors? If so, when do they
occur and what are they exactly (verbatim)?

I am not receiving any error messages during the
reinstalation of Office 97 or running the SR-1 other than
what i mentioned - Outlook doesn't show up in
the 'Programs to be updated' window. If i run the SR-2 i
get the following 97sr2_0.log file:

verions of Office 97 SR2. Applying the Office 97
SR1 patch may remedy this problem, or you may contact

I would like to send thanks to Igor Sidorkin for one of
many newsgroup messages that he wrote on 2000-09-18 in
the microsoft.public.office.setup one particular Message
advising Simon to copy outllib.dll (to the office folder)
and contab32.dll to the (systems folder) and then reapply
SR-1 and SR-2. Your advise is very very much appreciated
as i have been working on this problem on and off for
about a week now ... a getting very frustrated. Thanks
to you i have succeeded in applying the SR-1 and SR-2
patches. Thanks again. I hope you get to see this
reply. Or if anyone else knows his whereabouts please
