My operating system is Windows 98 and I recently installed
Office XP (including Outlook). It wiped out all of my
emails and address book. I did not make a backup.

Is there a way of i) restoring the system back a couple
of days, or ideally ii) locating the address book and
emails (if they still exist somewhere) and restoring them.

Any help much appreciated.

Did you install from scratch, letting XP reformat your disk, or did you do
an upgrade install?

No.

If you did not do a compete install, search your hard drive for *.pst.
That's your old messages/contacts/calendar, etc. Use File>Open>Outlook Data
File, browse to that file and click OK.
