I want to reinstall Outlook 97 on my new PC with Vista Home Premium. I only
want to use the Tasks function. The software loads OK, but when I try to open
it, it simply says 'Cannot start Microsoft Outlook'. Should I be able to load
it onto my new PC?
Thanks

No. Outlook 97 is too old to install on Vista. Look into Windows Live Mail
for a free calendar and other features you might be able to use. IMO, it's
not worth the expense of upgrading to Off 2003 or 2007 for the Task feature.

Office/Outlook 97 will run on Windows Vista but you must apply all Service Packs and Service Releases first. If it will not run after that, then post back with the exact steps you are using to open Outlook and the exact error message you receive.

It may run, but its not supported and was not tested on Vista. It's a slug
and there are better task programs available if the Vista calendar program
does not meet the needs.

Why bother? Vista has an integral Calendar already....
