After re-installing both XP and MS Office 2000 (including
Outlook), i'm receiving following errors when trying to
launch outlook:
<> Error Loading ShUtil Dll
<> Unable to load VirusScan/scanemail.dll
<> Outlook can't start because a location to send n
receive mail can't be found. ...
<> Unable to open default email folders. ...

Further - the Outlook tools menu does not have
an 'accounts' menu option (from whence i've created email
accts previously). I've reinstalled outlook, i've got a
working LAN and have inet access; any idea's on what to
try next?

Reconfigure your account and make sure there is a pst-file to deliver your
mail to.
To reconfigure your account go to Control Panel-> Mail. This will take away
the problem that there is no Tools-> Accounts

The reply from Roady got me going in the right direction
(thank you Roady) - and here's the results and lessons
learned:
1) when re-building my XP, load the operating system and
all service packs first
2) load the ms office 2k and all service packs next
3) load the antivirus after the office 2k is installed
(this may be risky - but i never had success until i
removed mcaffee pro and allowed office 2k to be fully
installed and patched).
4) *** *** BEFORE launching outlook, set up BOTH an
INTERNET MAIL (or exchange) account AND PERSONAL
FOLDERS !!! !!! (thru cntl panel-mail)
5) Finally - success!

ps... this whole re-build episode was brought on by
trying to install the McAffee VirusScan Enterprise 7.0
version on my XP after removing the McAffee Pro 7.0. Oh
the pain!

:) Smile if you can - as soon as the problem is fixed,
you'll be a lot happier! :) Woo Hoo!

You're welcome! Good to hear your problem is solved! :-)
