Outlook 2010 - Quick Steps

Anyone else having issues with the new "Quick Steps" feature? I can't seem
to get it to save e-mail addresses that I enter in the "To" line. When I
click "Save" or "Finish" - nothing happens - I am forced to "Cancel" or "X"
out. I think this tool could be very helpful - if I can get it to work. Any
suggestions?
 
I've tried a couple, but for example the "To Manager" - I've tried to put an
e-mail address in here and it will not work. I have also tried the "To Team"
and creating my own - all with the same result, when you click the "Save"
button nothing happens. Note: I can save the subject and text without
anything in the "To" box and it works fine.
 
Ok I do have more information from further testing. It appears that some
e-mail addresses are working. The addresses that are not working are those
that when I click the "check address" button the address changes to the name
e.g. I type "(e-mail address removed)" and "Mickey Mouse" comes up when I click the
"Check Address" button - I thought that it was just recognizing the address
as belonging to the person. The addresses that I'm able to save stay as the
e-mail address. Any ideas?

If you type an address and when you click Check Names, it turns into a name,
that means you have that address defined for a contact in your Contacts folder
and the Check Names operation finds that match and changes the display of the
address to the "Display As" field you have in the contact record. After
"Mickey Mouse" appears, double-click it. A Contact record should open. Does
it?
 
A Dialog does open - that appears to be the contact information - this same
thing opens when the name doesn't change as well. The only difference is
there are two extra tabs "Organization" and "Member of" with the name (as
opposed to the unchanged e-mail address). There is a little link button that
says "Open Contact" - I thought this might show me the address book it was
pulling from, but when I click on that I get a message "A dialog is open.
Close it and try again." I heard that there was a bug that has to do with
the Windows Address Book - the solution being to delete the address from that
book and then Outlook will accept it, but I checked and I don't have any
addresses in mine.

There is a bug in Quick Steps that causes it to reference the Windows Address
Book instead of Outlook's Contacts when the account is not Exchange. You must
manually enter addresses when creating a Quick Step.
 
That's what I've been trying to do all along - manually enter the e-mail
address - doesn't work, it seems to think that it's in the WAB - it's not, my
WAB is completely empty. Some addresses that I manually enter work - others
do not - just can't figure out why. I'm sure that it's associated with the
"bug" - but seems to be a bit different as I can't find a workaround.

Don't click the Check Address button. Just enter the mail addresses and save
the Quick Step. Does that work?

I'll be trying this myself when I get home.

This worked for me. If I entered the addresses manually, all was as I
expected. What also semi-worked was creating a new message, adding a
Distribution List to the To field, expanding that DL, selecting all the
members shown, coping the selection, then pasting that selection into the To
field of the Quick Step. I said "semi", whoever because of your DIsplay As
valiues consist of multiple words (like "Last, First" or "First Last"), only
the last word of each multiword Display As will be resolved and associated
with the address. I had a DL with enteries like "Smith, John", "Doe, "Jane",
etc. The words "John" and "Jane" resolved and displayed the address when I
hovered over it with the pointer. "Smith" and "Doe" were just character
strings that were completely inactive.
 
Not clicking the "Check Address" button didn't work - when I click save it
still changes from the address to the name.

The copying and pasting did work - thanks so much!!
