Hello,

I'm using Outlook 2010 with an IMAP account at 1&1 in germany. When I
set up the profile in Outlook, this account was connected with a pst
file myemailaddress.pst
Due to unknown reasons this account is now connected to
myemailaddress(3).pst

I also can' send any emails from this account. The error message is:
"Error (0x8004010F) .....: Can't access the outlook data file."

How can I point the profile to the original pst file?

When you use IMAP, outlook creates the pst for the imap account and you
can't change it.

If the change to the address(3) pst file is recent, you can use system
restore to roll back to the old data file, however, because its older,
it might refresh the entire pst.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2289904 for information about the
error. You may need to make a new imap account in the profile to fix the
error.

Well, the KB-entry was unfortunately useless for me, so I had to delete
the account and create it again. Thanks to IMAP no emails will belost
due to this. No the IMAP profile is connected to the correct address.com
pst file. There is however already an address.com(2).pst file present in
the data directory. It's much smaller (265kB). What is the purpose of
this file?
