Computer is still new. Office 2007 has been running smoothly for about 3
weeks. All of a sudden today I am unable to open Oulook 2007. I get a brief
appearance of an hourglass and then nothing. No error message. Task Manager
does not display any Applications running.

Look on the Processes tab and see if outlook.exe shows up there.

Go to add/remove programs and select outlook, do a repair on the installation.

If this doesnt work check for errors in your eventlog regarding outlook.exe
If so go to eventid.net and put the required info in and check out the forums.

I assume that you mean End Process instead of Stop Task since I was in the
Processes tab and my operating system is Vista. Anyway, I did click End
Process, and opened up Outlook 2007 and it worked! Thank you very much for
your help. Any idea what might have caused that?

Yeah. That's what I meant.

Youre welcome. While I can't say for sure, there seems to be a substantial
lag in OL 2007's close routines that makes it stay open longer that earlier
versions when you ask it to close. Also, it seems very sensitive to some
add-ins that used to work well with earlier versions ut weren't written
specifically for OL 2007. SOme of the reasons why Outlook may not close
can be found here: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.htm
