When I open Outlook, it says it is receiving mail, but when finished, the
inbox is empty. The only way to see the email is to search for any emails
sent today/yesterday/this week...etc using the search tool. I don't even
receive alerts when these new emails come in. What could I be doing wrong?

Check your view settings; you might have a filter applied. Remove the filter
or reset the entire view on the folder.

They be going directly to the junk folder or do you have rule setup to have all incoming emails moved to another folder upon receiving? Alerts work only on the main mailbox so if they are being moved then you would not receive an alert.

Best Regards

I have checked each view for filters and there are none. I even clicked to
reset the view and nothing. I can view the sent box just fine. I tried
comparing how the view was set up on it to the unread mailbox and inbox and
they look the same. I am not using an MS Exchane account but one is listed

Every folder is empty including the junk folder except for the sent box. The
only way I can view any of my mail is to use the search engine for all mail.

Sounds like you've configured your account settings wrong then. Why do you
have an Exchange account configured when you don't use one?
Most likely your emails are being delivered to a different folder set
configured within your Outlook.

I'd recommend to remove the Exchange account or even create a new mail
profile from scratch.
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

I wish I could remove that pesky Exchange account. I have tried several
times and all I get is this: Configuration Info in this file is being copied
to your new dfault data file. You can delete after this info is copied."
Any idea what this means?

I am deleting all my other folders and accounts now and starting fresh. I
will try to delete this Exchange account again after all other accounts have
been deleted and before adding new ones.

Thanks for helping me with this. I hope this works!

NCAccountant:

It sounds as if you have the same exact problem I had and noboy on this site
could figure out why. After several days of frustration, I figured out the
cause of the problem. Roady was almost on the money with his answer. I think
the problem lies with the Exchange Server account that you cannot delete.
Apparently Outlook is trying to deliver new email to an Exchange server that
does not exist. And for whatever reason, new mail never shows up in your
InBox. Meanwhile, you cannot delete that stupid Exchange Server account, you
always receive the message you described. That's exactly what happened to me.

I don't remember how I got there, but there is a way to create a new
account. When you get to that screen, you have the option to delete the
Exchange Server account, and for whatever reason, on this screen it will
actually work. Once you delete the Exchange Server account, your email should
function normally.

I went back and ready Roady's response. That was a winner. Go to that link
and when you get to one of the screen's you can delete the Exchange Server
account.

I have the exact same problem, however, I do not have any Exchange Server Account configured whatsoever, nor do I have any Junk Mail filters set up at all. I installed Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007, and this is when my problem started. The messages are going into my Inbox, but I cannot see them unless I do a search for all unread E-Mail. Not sure how or why BCM would be impacting my incoming E-Mail visibility. Any ideas? Thanks.

Did you try uninstalling BCM? In what folder does Unread Mail say they
reside? Have you cleared the forms cache and reset the view?
