Outlook 2007 keeps crashing on its own (if I walk away it will crash) and
when I cycle between messages. This happens every 2-4 minutes.

Try turning off all add-ins in Tools | Trust Center | Add-ins, at the bottom.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat Pro 6/7 installed (not the reader)? If yes, go
to add remove programs and uninstall the office and outlook addins for
it.

Patrick Schmid

Disable all add-ins via Tools, Trust Center, Add-ins and see if you
still have the same issue.

Patrick Schmid

That did not help much.

I had the same issue.

It is confirmed that this problem is fixed with disabling your virus scanner's "e-mail scan" incomming & read. Also I had to disable "rescan on update" so that everyday when it received an update, it didn't try to scan.

I did not have to run outlook in /cleanview

Thanks for the solution! (it was an easy fix)

I have the same issue, and nothing suggested has worked for me.

Windows 7 Ultimate and Outlook 2007 Professional. Connecting to exchange server 2007 via a VPN

Outlook randomly stops working then restarts every few minutes, whether in foreground or simply open in the background.

I have done all of these thins to no avail:

  • Followed the above instructions re cleanviews
  • Tried safe mode (still happens)
  • Uninstalled and removed registry entries (Revo uninstaller) office completely, removed data files and profile, then scan and clean registry again. After all that I reinstalled office from the ground up, and created profile and accounts again from scratch. Outlook went right on with crashing and restarting
  • removed all add-ins (no adobe, live add-ins or any others)
No other programs give any trouble, and system works perfectly.

I have another computer that has identical installation and connecting via same VPN, and the issue never occurs with that.

I'm left thinking I will need to erase and reinstall windows and all my applications from scratch.

Has anybody found an answer that I haven't already eliminated here?
