Just upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007. Everything seems to work fine except
I am unable to configure OL2007 to display pictures in email messages. I have
read messages on this group and others regarding configuration.

A red x appears where the pictures are suppose to be and I have cleared the
checkmark in the Tools - Trust etc. When I set to ask before downloading the
message in the email prompts me to reight click to download, but when I do,
the message goes away but the red x remains.

I have tried a repair and reinstall with no luck. Is there a setting I am
missing somewhere

Forgot to mention I am running a Pop3 (paid) yahoo account. OL2003 played
nice, but I want 2007 for the additional features

Hi Diane - Thanks for the tip, however it did not solve the problem. I also
tried cleaning the OL temp folder which did not help either...

Two interesting points - if I save an HTML message and open it in Word 2007
it displays correctly with pictures and graphics similarly, similarly if I
open the message in IE7 it dispalys correctly.

Also, if I start OL 2007 in Safe mode, the Reading Pane correctly displays
the graphics and pictures...this is what leads me to believe there is a
setting or Registry entry that is preventing the correct display when
starting OL normally.

Any other ideas?

the only OL setting to the one that blocks downloads - the image place
holders have the X but also say to r-click to show the pics. It's pretty
hard to miss the text so I'm assuming that not the cause. :)

since it works in safe mode and safe mode means no addins loaded - do you
have an antispam or antivirus addin? they could be blocking pics.

Hi Diane - I do not have any antispam or antivirus other than Windows
Defender, which I have been running for quite sometime without
issues...Interesting observation about the Safe Mode not loading add-ins... I
think I will try to unload or disable all add-ins to see what happens...Is
there somewhere I can go to find out exactly what else runnning in Safe Mode
does...or perhaps more appropriately does not not load (ie are the same
Registry settings used etc.) I'll let you know if removing or disabling all
add-ins does the trick. It's driving me crazy!

Update - Tried disabling and removing all add-ins with no success. Spent 3.5
hours on the phone with MS support last night without a clue as to what could
be causing the problem. Support has an open case on my problem and promised
to research and report back within 3 days.
