Outlook 2007 on a New Computer

I had an XP system with Outlook 2007 installed. The hard drive crashed and I
now have a new Vista system. I have just installed Office 2007 on the new
system. I have a backup of my data files from the old system on CDs.

I'm wondering what is the best approach to connecting to my old data files.
After I start Outlook on my new machine for the first time, it will connect
to my ISP and download all the mail that has been piling up. Then if I
connect to my old mail files, will I lose the downloaded mail?

Any info or links you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

I would copy the pst to the new drive, create the profile in Control panel,
Mail and connect the old pst before opening outlook for the first time.
