Outlook 2007 noticeable slower with new updates

I just got back from almost a week away and just installed more than ten
Windows Updates. I see an Office Suite Pack (SP2) for Office was installed.

This is not a big deal but when I click on In Box when, say, Calendar is
displayed, I see, for a split second, a blank window that states 'loading'
or something like that. I _never_ had that very slight delay before. FWIW,
I also have rebooted to see if that might have an effect; it didn't.

Am I alone with this? I can live with this but I always thought things got
faster .... not s l o w e r.

DH

The initial load should be slow as it needed to update the pst/ost but after
that is should be faster. If everything was installed at once, I'd probably
uninstall some of the updates and reboot. (Windows will reinstall them
later.) As for which updates to uninstall, I have no idea which one(s) would
be the best candidate - maybe all the windows updates?

Diane, you do realize what you are suggesting? I am supposed to do the work
of MS and receive no pay?

My initial question - am I alone with the noticeably slower behavior with
these new updates?

Thanks, DH

The answer to your question is yes, you are basically alone with your
problems. For the vast majority of users, it is much faster and there are no
problems. There are a few who have problems but in the cases I'm aware of, a
manual reboot fixed the problems (this is a second reboot, after the one the
update required).

If you want MS to do the work, open a support incident. They'll probably
have you uninstall some or all of the updates, or make a new profile or
restart in safe mode... it's a lot faster to try some things yourself - you
won't get paid for it regardless. You already did the reboot. Try safe mode
and a new profile... or save time and uninstall.

Now... if you upgraded from an older version and did not make a new profile
and especially if you are using a pst created in Outlook 2002 or older, make
a new profile. You should make a new pst if you are using an older ansi
format pst.

No Dave is not alone in the slow of Outlook. I am experiencing the same problem.

You hare very happy that you have only that problem. Other people get out of
memory errors and cannot access their mails!

I regret already that I installed SP2. Bad mistake.....

I said "basically alone" as the vast majority of people who installed it are
not having problems.

What type of email account?
Are you scanning email with antivirus and/or antispam software? (That will
cause issues.)
Is Outlook slow in safe mode?
Was the profile (and pst, if not using exchange) created in Outlook 2007?
Does it work if you make a new profile? Don't delete or copy the current
one - make a new one with a new name (ie, Test). If you use multiple accts,
start with just one in the profile and remember to leave mail on the server
if using POP3.

No Dave is not alone in the slow of Outlook. I am experiencing the same

I should add an update to my situation.

First, one noticeable difference before and after those recent updates.
Before those updates - when a window inside Outlook 2007 was 'working' to
open, I just saw a delay in the opening of the new window. Now I actually
see the word 'loading' in a white empty window. When I first wrote here
about this delay, the actual delay was almost a full second; now the delay
from say Calendar to Inbox is a fraction of a second though I can still make
out the word 'loading'. So, while the behavior of Outlook 2007 has changed
slightly since those updates, if it weren't for the word 'loading' I
probably would not have noticed any difference.

Since the word 'loading' appears ever so quickly, the overall appearance is
that the new window shakes for a split second before I see anything. It's
that new 'loading' that makes it seem that way.

I would have preferred to have the word 'loading' not appear and just wait
for a split second for the new page/window to load.

That's it. DH
