outlook 2007 - no alerts for my msn.com account

i am trying to recieve aduio alerts from my msn account that i have hade for
many years. i am able to set allerts for my pop3 account but not for my msn
accout, which is an http account.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Right. HTTP accounts can't alert you that way.
 
Thank you Brian,
I have upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007, and im sure i could do this with
outlook 2003? Seems a bit of a backward step.

Are you using the Outlook Connector?

not sure what you mean, however by looking into the rules and alerts page,
only my pop3 account appears in the drop down list to add rules/alerts too.
My msn email is my default account and all my msn mail gets delivered to my
msn inbox

While you may think your MSN account is your default account, it's not your
delivery location and unless you're using Hotmail Premium, I don't think it
can be made to be your delivery location. Alerts happen only for the
delivery location Inbox, without third-party software.
