Outlook 2007 Intermittend Send Problems

My Manager has been having issues for some time when attempting to send
emails that have been replied to, or forwarded and have attachments. It is
irregular and does not occur all the time, does not occur when sending to
certain people, receiving from certain people etc; there does not seem to be
a pattern. The emails do not get stuck in the outbox, they just will not
send at all and he has to copy and paste the entire email and it's
attachments to a new email and then send.

Any ideas what is causing this and what might fix it?

Do they appear in the Outbox in italics and with a Sent date?
 
No, they will not send at all, when you press the send button within the
email nothing happens, sometimes an error box will appear saying "cannot
send" or something similar - with no additional information. I have asked
him to let me know exactly what comes up next time he has the problem.

Are you saying that they do not appear in Outbox after clicking Send? If you
get an error, post the exact and complete text of that error. Guessing at
what it says doesn't help.
 
Hi Brian

Sorry I have not been clearer in describing the issue. A majority of the
time when the Send button is pressed nothing happens (literally), the email
remains open and just will not send. When an error message does appear the
wording is "This message cannot be sent" - I have requested a screen dump at
the next occurrence.

What type of mail account are you using? Exchange, POP, IMAP, Hotmail? Does
Outlook behave the same way if you start it in safe mode (hold Ctrl when you
start it)?
 
Using POP (SMTP - if that's relevant). I have asked him to open in safe mode
going forward and let me know if he still has the problem. Once again thanks
for bearing with me!
