Outlook 2007 incessant password verification when using hotmail

got new computer, Vista, outlook 2007. uninstalled the norton, and installed
Symantec. when I installed symantec started getting these password
verifciations, which then close my email. Please help!

Uninstall your antivirus program and reinstall it without any email scanning
features.

Also, do i need to install the 2007 update package? how do I know if I have
it? I couldn't find it when I searched for outlook.exe.
