Outlook 2007 IMAP just hangs on slow internet connection

I cannot get over how outlook cannot create concurrent connections to the
internet. It has to wait as one connection finishes or fails - and the
program just hangs impossibly in the process.

Any way to fix this?

It creates concurrent connections all the time. I get six or seven every
time I perform a send/receive.

Because of DoS concerns with the typically large number of subscribed
folders, IMAP connections are limited. I thought the limit was 4 per
server. If you have several accounts there are limitations over the total #
of servers and total # of connections.

I have one IMAP account.

When I am in Asia accessing my account in the states, Outlook just hangs all
the time.

I wish that Outlook could cache changes and just show what is in the local
mail store while it is waiting to update the information.

Is there some sort of setting that could help things out?

I frequently (5-10 times per day) have to open task manager and shut down
the outlook process and restart in offline mode...

Thanks

Do you have the send/receive group configured to download only headers or
the entire message? Is your subscription list large or restricted only to
your Inbox?

Set to download entire messages.

Regardless of whether I just do a small amount of messages in the inbox, or
set It to download 20 folders worth of stuff, Outlook slows to a crawl if
there is a momentary loss in available bandwidth - which happens all the
time in Asia.

Outlook, some days, is completely unusable.
