outlook 2007 - emails disappear from inbox once opened

Using outlook 2007 for 3 years now...hp laptop with vista. After posting
entry in calendar, returned to outlook and all emails in inbox had
disappeared. Did outlook repair install - no help. Uninstalled outlook and
reinstalled - now emails come into inbox, but once opened they disappear and
are nowhere to be found. Can retrieve emails from Comcast.net with no
problem.
 
You probably have your view set to show unread items only. You can change it
back to the Messages view via;
View-> Current View-> Messages

Make sure you're using the Messages view and not the Unread Messages view.
