Have you tried opening Outlook using the /resetnavpane switch?

Start > Start Search > outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Note there is a space between outlook.exe and /resetnavpane.

Thank you so much Kathleen for this information!

I have had this problem at work for about a week now and NO ONE with the
helpdesk knew what to do. I had to research the problem for myself and found
the suggestion that you gave to Richie. Now I don't have to use OWA
throughout the work day.

You're very welcome :)
