Outlook 2007 - backspace highlighted text doesn't delete

Hi

Anyone know what setting to change so if I highlight some text and hit the
backspace key the text deletes?

Checked Word 2007 and if you highlight text and hit the backspace key it
deletes the text.

That's not an Outlook function, but an underlying Windows function. In what
window are you claiming it doesn't work?

The text area of what window? Is this a compose windows, one that appears
when you click New or Reply?
