Outlook 2007 add-ins causing problems with IMAP

In my recent attempt to change from using Outlook 2007 pop e-mail to IMAP
e-mail [to be able to synchronize mail between Outlook and a yet to be
purchased iPhone] I've experienced repeated "UID has changed" messages,
crashes, and the re-downloading of all e-mail in Outlook. I have since read
in this forum, and others, that bad Outlook behavior can be caused by add-ins.

I have listed all of my Outlook add-ins below. I have identified what some
of these add-ins are for. Can anyone shed some light on what the other
add-ins are used for and if they could be causing these problems?

INACTIVE APPLICATION ADD-INS

Whats the difference between an inactive and a disabled add-in?

Does the same thing happen if you start Outlook in safe mode (hold Ctrl when
starting Outlook)? I'd suspect any of the following add-ins:

iTunes Outlook add-in
NatSpeak Outlook add-in (Dragon Naturally Speaking)
Norton anti-spam Outlook plug-in (Norton Anti Spam)
Outlook add-in (MyFax)
Outlook change notifier
PDFMOutlook (Acrobat?)

but mostly this one:

Norton anti-spam Outlook plug-in (Norton Anti Spam)

because it wedges itself between the IMAP server and Outlook, potentially
disrupting the data stream.
 
I replaced Norton Internet security 2009 with version 2010, but the UID error
messages continued. I then moved all of the contents of my inbox and sent
item folders to a temporary folder, and then back again. This seems to have
solved whatever problem was causing the UID error messages. IMAP e-mail with
Outlook 2007 now seems to work fine.

Thanks for reporting back. I notice that you never mentioned Cloudmark in
your list of add-ins. You said you were using Norton anti-spam.
 
One of the first things that I did was to remove Cloudmark Spamnet and use
Norton Internet security 2009 anti-spam filter. That's why Cloudmark was not
listed as an add-in.
