Outlook 2003

I just purchased Outlook 2003 and I configured the email notification to
notify me by using the pop up display, however, I never get the notification
when I have new mail. I have to go to Outlook to get the new messages. Do I
have to leave the Outlook open on my task bar in order to receive the
notifications?

To recieve any notifications from Outlook it must be open.
