Because I keep getting the error message; (0X80042109) Outlook is unable to
connect with outgoing (SMTP) email server, that is, I get that message here
at home, --- in other people's houses I am able to send with no changes (all
on comcast) - and I have tried switching the port to 587 and even checking
the box that says this computer needs authentication (when I do that and
switch to 587, the test message goes, but email still won't go) - (This is
quite a run-on sentence) Because I did all that, should I just switch to
outlook 2007? Will I lose all my addresses, and past emails?

Some ISPs (not Comcast) require you to go through their mail server
for outgoing mail in an attempt to stop outgoing spam.. Contact your
ISP as to how to set up. Unfortunately, you may find that when you go
to your friends you may have to change some outlook settings.

I don't know how you ended up posting in a FrontPage newsgroup, but you need
an Outlook grup.
