Am running XP Home Ed 2002, Office 2003. have been using Outlook Express
with 3 accounts, no problem. Now tried to import into Outlook. shows all
come in, but no send/receive button and when I compose, account list is
empty. tried restart of Outlook. tried restart of machine 2x. tried delete
all accounts and enter manually. tried starting with new Outlook file a 2nd
time and enter only one account manually.

still won't recognize any accounts.

delete and reinstall outlook??

any other ideas?

much appreciate the help.

You imported the messages; you must configure the accounts. Tools-> E-mail

yes, I did import the mail, but I also imported each of three email settings.
All pop3, etc. are configured correctly.

the first time I imported all three email accounts, individually, at one
time. It showed all three under Tools > Email Accounts. but when I tried to
set one as default it said it was unavailable. this was my first clue we had
a problem.

I tried to delete that one and it wouldn't even see it as being able to
delete it.

so then I restarted the machine and tried again. this time it let me delete
the 3rd one. I vaguely remember there was a conflict at one time with XP
Home and Outlook for multiple email accounts in pop3. I had a client awhile
back that encountered this issue.

so I restarted a new outlook file (renamed the .pst and then restarted
outlook) and manually entered ONE email account. Tools > Accounts > add >
pop3, etc. etc.

it shows in the box there, shows as default. then when I go back out to the
mail view, there is no send/receive box, and no send/receive settings on the
toolbar. when I create an email, the account dropdown is empty.

"so I restarted a new outlook file (renamed the .pst and then restarted

pop3, etc. etc."

And that is where the corruption occured. That is not the way to start with
a clean data file. Start off with a clean mail profile and configure the
accounts manually. If you've activated your copy of Office already as well
everything should work immidiately. To create a new mail profile see;
