I installed outlook 2003 in winxp. It was configured for an enterpris
server I made a new profile and elevated it to first. When I ope
outlook it tells me the ost file is not configured for off line when
hit OK it shuts down how do I set it to online or get it to recogniz
the ost file so I can reconfigure.
Thanks in advance. Please give step by step as I am novice to settin
up Outlook

It won't open at all all I know is what I put below. As far as I know i
should be trying to access my ISP. I am going to find where the file
for the exchange server are located and delete them then remove th
exchange server profile to assure that option is gone. I thought I di
that by elevating the POP profile to top but????

You need to remove the Exchange profile. Then install your POP account. If
you still want to use Exchange, you can configure a separate mail profile to
do so. However, it will create a new .ost file as the old one is configured
to use your security enabled prior profile. The SIDS will not match.

That was exactly the answer I needed. It worked perfectly and I have
much better understanding of Outlook now. Thanks very much.
