Hi-

Sometimes when I try to close outlook 2003 it will dissapear from the main
screen but remain in the task bar and then a little bubble pops up saying
there is a problem and to disconnect from networks and other things like
that (I can't remember exactly at this point). This doesn't happen all the
time, just some, and I can't figure out what I am doing differently. I can
only shut it down via the Task Manager when this happens. I am using
Windows XP Home and I have all of Office 2003 installed if that makes any
difference. Thanks!

Are you storing your pst-file on a networkshare? Also what service are you
using? POP3, IMAP, Exchange (via VPN) or HTTP?

I am just a home user not on any networks and using dialup. I have my email
using POP3 and my Hotmail account and that is all. Thanks for your reply!
I really appreciate it.

I expect that one of your add-ins is causing this and doesn't want Outlook
to close. These add-ins could be spamfilters, synchronizing software or
firewalls and virusscanners. Disable those and see if it still happens. If
not you'll need to update or reconfigure those programs.

Where do I find out what add-ins I have? I only have Norton SystemWorks
2003 and ActiveSync. Oh, there is also an annoying Adobe Creator toolbar
that never seems to stay hidden. Could that be it? Thanks!

-Dan

Sometimes the add-in are not shown in Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button
Advanced Options...-> button Add-In Manager or button COM Add-ins. If this
is the case you'll have to disable the integration option in the program
itself (like in Norton AntiVirus 2002).
