Outlook 2003 with Office 2000

I am a user within a coporate setup where we use Office 2000 as the
mainstream. Due to (a) problems with Outlook 2000 and (b) the greater
facilities of Outlook 2003, I upgraded Outlook. Despite three days of
correspondence and high level referral by our supplier both to Microsoft and
user group discussions, and having downloaded the most recent upgrade to
OUtlook 2003, i am still unable to use Word as my email editor. I need this
to use all the autotext and other normal.dot functions available to our
business as a whole.
I am reluctant to move up to Office 2003 for myself as i suspect there will
then be irresolvable conflicts with Word docuemtns and Excell workbooks when
i create them for other users. This therefore appears to be a big stick being
waved by Microsoft for an all or nothing upgrade and is more likely to turn
me to consider Linux throughout if i have to change at all.

This is normal behavior. There are significant changes between versions that
make it impossible to use WordMail unless the versions of Outlook and Word
match. Word and Excel documents work fine between 2000 and 2003 versions.
