I just installed Office 2003 Pro, and the desktop icon
for Outlook is no longer there. I can create a shortcut,
but that's not what I want, as you cant get to the
accounts and such from a shortcut. Can anyone tell me how
to get the "real" icon back?

I use the CONTROL PANEL to access the MAIL
applet. This will give you access to your mail accounts
without opening Outlook.

Thanks for the tip, but that still requires me to open
the Control Panel. I want my desktop icon back.

Anyone?

What OS? If Winxp, drag the start menu icon to the desktop.

Otherwise, see http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/20031111.htm

I'm using XP Home. I followed your "otherwise" link, and
it explained the fix, although, as it also explains, the
new icon will look like a shortcut. Anyway, it works.

Thanks.

I had this problem with WinXP and OL2003

The following worked a treat:
