Can someone give me an overview of contacts vs accounts w/contacts? Is it just a way of grouping contacts in a meaningful way? Is there a non-technical book I can read? Can you store the database on a lan server rather than the pc hard drive so the database gets backedup? Can another person, i.e, an Admin, access the database when the principal is logged out? We don't have Exchange.

Exactly. You can roll up the history and other information for an entire
account -- seeing all the messages to and from its contacts, for example.

BCM is a single-user product that runs on the local machine. No one else can
access the data. You can make manual backups but cannot change the database
location.
