Outlook 2003 update

My brother (XP, Outlook 2003) says he just installed updates and now his mail
file shows only calendar items. For instance, deleted mail shows only old
calendar items. I don't have XP or 2003 so I can't help him. Any ideas about
what's going on?

Have him open the Mail applet in Control Panel and click Show Profiles. What
does he see?
 
Never mind. Turns out he has been using Outlook Express, not Outlook.
Apparently the update changed his shortcut on the desktop from OE to Outlook
and he didn't realize the programs were different. Deleted calendar items
showed up in deleted items, and no email showed up because he had never used
Outlook for email. Sorry.
