Outlook 2003 synching Calendar/Contacts with 3rd party software?

Do third party applications that were compatible with Outlook 2000 or
Outlook XP usually need updates or patches to be compatible to synch
Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2003 or is Outlook 2003 Calendar and
Contacts fully backwards compatible?
 
Better check this with your supplier of the add-in. So far I've seen most of
them work with either Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003 not sure about Outlook
2000.
