I have my Outlook 2003 set so that I must type my password in order to get
into it. (it is running Exchange 2003 on the backend). Outlook 2003 is
running on cached mode.

However, Outlook comes up in the background with the preview window open and
readable BEFORE I type in my password.

In other words, if I have outlook closed but my computer is on and someone
simply double click on my icon for outlook they can a free preview of the
first email and can see a list of the items in my inbox.

I have yet to try setting up a new profile on a different computer to see
what it looks like.....

Bob

Use a password protected screen-saver. They are mandatory at my agency.

Swen virus, all e-mails sent to my actual account will be deleted w/out
reading.

I know, I know and as a matter of fact I do use a password protected screen
saver.....but it is an interesting issue in my opinion and probably is
something that should be changed and thus my pointing it out.

Bob

It is a result of cached mode - which places all the files on your hard
drive and immediately accessible. Many folks were complaining about Outlook
being slow to open - using cache mode allows it to load in the background
without waiting for the password to be accepted.

I filed a bug on this in the beta and was told it was expected behavior.

No kidding.....

So how do you go about getting to be an MVP anyway. Just curious.

Thanks,
Bob

oh yeah, my nntp history goes back to '91 or so....it is a fabulous
resource. Although with web sites hosting groups it has become less
traveled recently...
