Outlook 2003 Rules Wizard

I have about 35 rules created in OL2003. 2 of the rules will not activate
and when I try to apply them I get the following error:

One or more rules could not be updated to Exchange server and have been
deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are not supported
and there is insufficient space to store all of your rules


Any ideas on what may be causing this? Is there truly a limit to the number
of rules Outlook can handle? If so, is there any way to work around it? The
rules wizard is really not effective if I can only have a finite number of
rules.

Jeff,

There is not a limit to the <number> of rules, the limit is on the size of
the rules. The limit for all versions of Outlook is 32 KB. Unfortunately,
there's not a great way to determine the size of an individual rule. The
best thing to do is to try to consolidate "similar" rules so you have 1 rule
doing the work of what used to be 2 rules.

That helps. . .I actually found a KB article that documents the size limit.

Is this a limitation in Outlook or a feature or a requirement? Is the size
limit ever going to be increased?
