Outlook 2003 Public Folders No Showing Unread Items

We have Exchange 2003\Outlook 2003 and notice that the Public Folders
do not tell users when there is unread mail in them i.e. with the Blue
number next to the folder .

They DO this if you add the folder to your 'Favorites' but this isn't
practical for ALL of our folders
 
This is normal behavior in all versions of Outlook. You must use Favorites
to get read/unread tracking.
