Outlook 2003 Professional - Email Addresses Lost

Upon returning to work this morning I encountered the following:

The .pst file that I store all of my contact information in was
experiencing errors. I ran the Inbox Repair Tool on the .pst file
(which is located on an external hard drive). After a few scans, etc.
I was able to run Outlook. However, upon opening my contacts folder
in Outlook I've noticed that ALL of the email address fields and File
As fields are empty.

Two questions:
1. Any theories on what may have caused this?
2. Any theories on how I might recover the lost data?

Thank you,
jl

UPDATE

I have just done a bit more digging and found the following:

If I view my contacts as Address Cards, the email addresses are
listed. None of my contacts are sorted by Category anymore. The File
As field is still blank. Also, if I try to view the contacts as
Detailed Address Cards I'm told that "There are no items to show in
this view."

My questions remain the same as previously stated.

Thank you,
jl

Restore your .pst file from a recent backup.

After furious head scratching, (e-mail address removed) asked:
