At home I have Outlook 2003 on XP Home, at the office everything is version
2000, I think Exchange is 5.5 but I'm not the administrator.
OWA can now be installed as if it were a http-mail account, which is great
and works great (fast).
Unfortunately 2 problems:

Problem 1
When looking at my office mail through an OWA-account in Outlook 2003 the
views and rules on my Outlook 2000 at office get messed up.

Problem 2
Some folders with subfolders do not open. Error-pls report a bug is added to
the name of the folder...

Thanks already

If you are using Exchange 5.5 at work make sure the admins update the
server with some hot fixes that fix some problems when Outlook 2003
accesses an Exchange 5.5. server, especially with OWA. Have them look
at the home page at www.slipstick.com for more information about
critical updates they should install.

Rules and views are stored differently in Outlook 2003 and earlier
versions. Accessing the same mailbox using both can cause problems.
Not sure about your other problem, can you supply more details?

Thank you for your reply.

Since our admin's are having a busy time I' won't bother them for the time
being. Also I think I can not expect them to support me in this. I try to
set my expectations as user correct...

I have removed and re-installed the OWA-account and problem 1 seems to have
disappeared for now. What remains is that every time I access the account
(retrieve mail) a blank e-mail (or at least it looks like an e-mail) is
inserted in the Outlook 2003 view.

Concerning problem 2: I have inbox and all the other and then some
additional mail-folders, some of which have sub-folders. At first only two
of the three folders did not show content or sub-folders, after
re-installing the owa-account, all of the mail-folders with sub-folders show
no sub-folders in Outlook 2003. In the message pane there's only the
notification 'not items to be shown' and in the navigation pane instead of
the expected sub-folders there is one item looking like a sub-folder but
having the error message as its name instead of the expected folders.

I'll wait to see if more information pops up or what happens when the
Exchange server is updated - which is done regularly here. Both problems may
disappear then.

(Too bad because the OWA in OL2003 is really an nifty feature: faster than
in a browser and one can use it off-line too. Really nice. Very usefull for
dial-up internet users.)

I'm not sure about the folders, when I use OWA against my Exchange 5.5
server I do see the public folders I have set up permissions for. I'd
wait and see if when your admins update the server if the problem goes
away.
