I recently upgraded from Office 2000 Professional to Office 2003. Now when I boot the computer and start Outlook I get the outlook screen but nothing will respond to clicks (the hourglass appears on the screen) It takes up to 15 minutes for it to be usable. THe more you click, the worse it is. The best option is to start it up and leave. As soon as it downloads mail it is ok. The other Office programs respond the same way. Internet Explorer and non-Office programs are ready to go right off. It is like something in Office is running and has to complete before anything will work.

Have you disabled Messenger integration? Tools>Options>Other. Uncheck the
two boxes at the bottom.
