Hello,

We run Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003. On a new install of clients and of
SBS Server 2003, the Outlook clients are reverting to the Exchange acount as
the default email account, even though the users have selected an axternal
POP3 accoutn as default several times.

Why is this happening and what can be done to prevent it. Needless to say,
checking your send account every time you compose an email is not very
efficient.

Thanks!

Jim, I'm having same problem. Here's the situation:

I'm using Outlook 2003 on a SBS Windows 2003. Installation is
New, //server/connectcomputer was used to establish the
clients.
Problem: We do not want to use the Exchange mail as the
default email. I've setup 1 pop3 account and set it as
default but as soon as the client reboots the default
returns to Exchange.
At the server I've gone into user account properties and
set the pop3 account "Set as Primary" and tried both
checking and unchecking the "Automatically Update Email
address's based on reciepient policy.

Nothing I do allows me to make a permanent change to
remove the Exchange account as default.

Any suggestions/comments? What am I missing?

No suggestion here, other than what you tried already. This did NOT happen
on the SBS RC Eval with the Outlook Interim build. For that matter, it did
not happen on the SBS RC and Outlook final, which leads me to suspect
Exchange/SBS.

This is VERY inconvenient and I hope we hear something soon from MS or an
MVP...

I have 10 clients wanting a rollout on this thing ( becaus eI've praised it
so highly), but between this and the other issues I've noted in previous
posts, we'll have to wait a while longer.

Hope we can resolve these things soon,

JS

Has anyone heard how to fix this? I'm having the same
problem and it's not going to fly when I install this for
my clients. What's the point in Launching this new
software if it doesn't work and Microsoft doesn't know
how to fix it? I was really happy with Microsoft (except
for the security patches) right up until their latest
Launch of SBS and Office 2003. What a cluster f**k.

Yes,

Ray Fong over at the SBS group advised the following and it works - if you
are using SBS of course. If not, maybe there is a way to modify to your
scenario:

Here is the info:

At the client, create a DWORD "NoTransportOrder" under
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\ClientSetup, set it to 1.
